Alec Frigo - Building the Tool Tote
Over the past two weeks, I have been building a tool tote out of a single piece of 8' by 11" wood. It has honestly been one of the better experiences of this year so far. I started with the creation of a 3d model of the toolbox where I measured out the dimensions required. After that, I grabbed my plank of wood and drew out all of the pieces and cuts I would need to make. I then proceeded to make said cuts and then sanded down the edges. After that, I screwed the entire project together and then made final adjustments on the edges and surfaces of the tote.
The result of this project was a lot of enjoyment from me, and what I'd consider a very handy tool tote. While my tote is definitely on the smaller end of the tote spectrum, it's fairly light and nice and compact and thus will be great at carrying small components and fasteners. It's also very comfortable to hold and practical to work with. It's a little rough around the edges so to speak, but I am proud of it.
I greatly enjoyed almost every aspect of the creation of the toolbox from creating the model to sanding down the edges to the ideal angle. There were a couple of difficulties while building, however. One example I can think of is how getting the cuts just right so that the pieces fit together.
